Scrapbook Saturday

One of the things that first got me into being creative is scrapbooking.  I LOVE it!  Though I admit I am so far behind on it and have found less and less time to work on it lately.  But one of my goals this year is change that!  So here is the first page I've done in a loooong time.  Hopefully it will be the first of many to come. :)

A friend on my scrapbooking board gave us a challenge to use 12 of something, since we are starting 2012.  This is actually a scraplift of one of my previous layouts, using 12 squares.  I just love this picture of my boys and hope they will be great friends!

Clearance Christmas Soaps

Remember these soaps I gave away as teacher gifts this year?  Well I was at Bath & Body Works today and they were on clearance for $1.37 each which is a GREAT deal for these soaps!  So maybe I just couldn't help myself and I picked up 12 of them!  I figured I could save them until next Christmas, or I might try and peel the labels off and turn them into a cute Valentine's Day soap.  Stay tuned ..... ;)

Anyway, just thought I'd give a heads up in case anyone has a sickness like me and can't pass up a good deal!

Frugal Friday-Valentine's Wreath

I have been looking for a good Valentine's wreath to make but have not found one that I am in love with. Buff and I were talking and she had the idea to make one out of body wash poufs! We put our minds together and came up with a wreath that we were both proud of!

Here is how we did it....

We found some scrap foam that Buff had laying around the house. We got a wire hanger and bent it into a circle.

We then cut a slit in the middle of the foam so that we could lay the hanger inside the foam. The foam then would bend to the shape of the hanger.

I then took the loofahs and cut the cord and string off them and then I could open the pouf and slide it onto our wreath.

After we got the poufs on the wreath, I took the hook from the hanger and hooked it into the other end of the foam to complete the circle and then taped it to make sure it would stay... I forgot to take pics of that step...sorry.

Buff found this purple heart at walmart 75% off!  It is a Christmas tree ornament! We took some clear jewelry string and decided to hang this in the middle of the wreath.

We had a small pink pouf that we had gotten in a Christmas present and took some purple scraps of tule to make some accents that look like flowers. We just pinned them in but you could also hot glue gun them on. The good think about using the white poufs is you can change the accents on it to fit any season. I searched for some pink poufs to make another wreath cause we have a white heart just like the purple one, but I could not find any pink ones, so you will just have to imagine that I did a pink and white one as well.

*Tip- It only took us 5 poufs to cover the wreath.

Baptism Gift Ideas

Leather Scripture Bag, CTR Bubble Ring, and Princess suckers complete the gift.

Our precious grandchildren are becoming little adults all of a sudden, and we wanted the perfect Baptism gift ideas. I started reading the little blue Book of Mormons and highlighting my favorite parts, especially about the Savior. Then when I was finished, I wrote my testimony in the front cover each time I completed one. Then a fun trip to "Deseret Book", helped me find the latest gifts to add for my grand daughter, who recently was baptized. There were so many fun choices, but knowing her personality made it easy to choose. When they grow older we hope they truly realize how special they are to us and how much we enjoy their company.

WIWW- Red Blazer

            RED!!!!
Ok for those of you that really know me, know that I never wear the color red. As a kid I hated having red hair cause it made me stand out and I hated that. I was at least grateful that I was not a flaming red head with ghostly white skin and freckles. I have always refused to wear red cause I felt that it would clash with my hair.

I have always loved clothes (what girl doesnt?!?!) and since we have begun blogging it has really helped push me out of my comfort zone when it comes to adding more color to my closet. A first for me is the red blazer! Another first for me is the layered necklace look! I am a bit nervous about this look and hope that people like it. I love all the fun colors that are in right now that I see other people wearing and I have finally decided to just try it, so please please leave me a comment and let me know  what you think!

Perpetual Birthday Calendar w/Printable

I love to make cards and send them out to family and friends for their birthdays and other special occasions.  But I'm the first to admit that despite my best intentions, I don't always get them sent out on time.  :)  One of my goals for this year is to do better at this.  To help me, I decided to make myself a perpetual calendar.  This is such an easy and inexpensive project and would even make a great gift for that person who has everything.

All you'll need is a 4x6 picture frame and some white cardstock.  I picked up my clear frame from Dollar Tree.  It's actually magnetic (perfect for a refrigerator!) but since my kitchen is stainless steel I picked up a frame holder for a buck while I was there. Then just print the calendar pages (you can print two 4x6 to a page) cut 'em out and slip 'em in the frame.  Easy peasy! :)

Just make sure you display it somewhere you'll see it often!  You could also tie some cute ribbon on it and hang it up.
